Amex Removing Lufthansa Lounge Access

I’d guess most people didn’t even know they could access Lufthansa lounges thanks to their American Express Platinum. Well that is ending soon.

Amex Platinum Losing Lufthansa Lounge Access

American Express Platinum and Centurion cardholders currently have access to the following Lufthansa lounges. Unfortunately this is ending as of October 1st, 2026.

  • Platinum Cardholders have access to the following lounges when flying same day with a Lufthansa Group carrier:

    • Lufthansa Business Lounges when flying economy

    • Lufthansa Senator Lounges when flying business

  • Centurion cardholders have access to Lufthansa First Lounges when flying same day in any cabin on a Lufthansa Group carrier. The Lufthansa First Class Terminal in Frankfurt is excluded from this agreement.

My Take

This is certainly a negative change but I don’t think many people even knew this agreement existed. I’ve only used this benefit a handful of times while flying Lufthansa in Europe. Lounges have gotten more and more crowded over the years so this is intended to help with that. Will it help? Probably not but we’ll see.
