Chase is Editing The Edit Credit

Sorry about the title, it was too easy. As the credit card Premium Wars heat up, Chase fired back at American Express just days before they announced major updates to the American Express Platinum. This is just in regards to the Chase Sapphire Reserve’s new annual hotel credit for both the personal and business version.

Improved The Edit Credit

When Chase relaunched the Sapphire Reserve at the end of June, they added a new hotel credit which is their version of Amex’s $200 (now $600) hotel credit. Chase’s hotel credit was (is?) $250 in the first half of the year and another $250 in the second half of the year when booking a prepaid hotel of at least two nights with The Edit.

After leaks came out in advance of the new American Express Platinum, Chase changed how their hotel credit works with The Edit. Starting on January 1st, 2026 you can now use both $250 credits at any time throughout the year. This means no more waiting until July 1st to use your second half of the $500 credit. These two $250 credits will not stack, meaning you cannot use them for the same hotel stay. However, you could book two nights back to back on separate reservations and get the credit.

New $250 Hotel Credit at Select Chase Travel Hotels

On January 1st, 2026 you’ll also get up to a $250 statement credit for booking a prepaid stay of at least two nights with Chase Travel for stays with one of the following brands:

  • IHG Hotels and Resorts

  • Montage Hotels and Resorts

  • Pendry Hotels and Resorts

  • Omni Hotels and Resorts

  • Virgin Hotels

  • Minor Hotels

  • Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts

The good news is this new $250 hotel credit can stack with one of the $250 The Edit credit. So if you booked a hotel through The Edit at a Montage hotel, you it would trigger both credits for a total of up to $500.

Wrapping Up

With Chase and American Express firing shots across each other’s bows, we’re seeing a nice improvement to Chase’s hotel credit. What was once $500 split between the first half and the second half of the year, it will now be $250 twice a year regardless of when you book. Additionally, we’re seeing another $250 credit added for select Chase Travel hotels.
