New Citi AAdvantage Globe Card

With Citi now being the sole provider of American Airlines’ co-branded credit cards, they just launched a new “mid-tier” credit card that earns AAdvantage miles and loyalty points. This is really designed for the somewhat frequent American Airlines traveler. Not the road warrior or someone that flies American a few times a year. Let’s jump in and see why this card is a great addition to their lineup.

Who Is Eligible?

Citi has a number of co-branded cards with American Airlines in addition to this card.

Citi’s only rule for all of these cards is that you are not eligible for the sign up bonus if you’ve received the sign up bonus for the same card in the last 48 months. It is fine if you’ve received the sign up bonus for any of their other American Airlines cards, just not the same one you are applying for. Additionally, Citi generally will only approve you for one card every 8 days and two cards every 65 days. Since this is a brand new card, you shouldn’t have an issues getting a the bonus.

Wrapping Up

This new Citi AAdvantage Globe card is really designed for the frequent American Airlines traveler, but not for the road warrior. There are some pretty nice benefits with this card, specifically the 4 lounge passes each year as well as the Companion Certificate. Couple these with the 90,000 mile sign up bonus and this is a really compelling card.
